Northern Spain is one of Europe's last great green wilderness'. Dense forests and untamed mountains throng with herds of graceful deer and armored Wild Boar, also concealing creatures as large as Brown Bears and Grey Wolves. Forest specialists like Wildcats and Pine Martens almost exterminated from Britain are widespread there. This was where I was hoping to be this Summer, until Coronavirus happened.
But who needs Bears when you've got Badgers? Or Wolves when you've got your Nan's separation anxiety-ridden dog? And who needs the wilds of Spain when you've got the stretching fens, rockpool-lined coasts, rugged cliffs and winding flint plateaus of the wilds of Britain?
It might not Spain, but Britain isn't the boring grey blob so many people say it is, and this Summer (if nothing goes too wrong) I'll be visiting the Isle of Wight, the Fens of East Anglia and South Devon and Wales, visiting my family and their unique homes. Whilst there, I'm hoping to write all about what we get up to (caution, it will be random) and the weird and wonderful people and wildlife in these areas. The first blog post will be on the evening of the 26th of July, (or possibly the morning of the 27th) where I'll be travelling over to the lovely little Isle of Wight for a few days. I hope you enjoy!
Marco thanks for giving this a read-I'd love to go there one day definitely! Not entirely sure but the area I'd love to go to would be North Spain near the Cantabrian Mountains.
Esperteyu from ig here, where about were you going to go in Spain? I come from Asturias, and can give you some good tips if you once go there. I absolutely adore it but you are right, plenty of places around here as well to enjoy your love for nature!
